As far as popular instruments go, the humble accordion is not one that usually pops into mind. It is a box-shaped, free-reed aerophone instrument first developed by Friedrich Buschmann in 1822, and of which has been deeply associated with folk and (to some degree) classical music.

Some of the accordions come in huge sample packs that include a lot of other organic instruments. Sometimes, it can be cheaper to purchase a bigger sample pack rather than having to get plugins that only have one or two instruments.

The main user interface for Accordion is designed to closely mimic the functions and key layout of a real-life piano accordion. The upper half of the interface contains all of the controls for tempo-synced sequencer programming, volume and reverb. The lower half has controls for choosing different registers, key and button noises. There are several keyswitches that control the sequencer and registers.

A real accordion has a very distinctive style of playing which you can easily emulate by using the on-board chord sequencer within Sonokinetic Accordion. This feature makes it incredibly easy to lay down live accordion performances using both hands to play.

The Accordion is capable of producing four timbres for the right keyboard (namely piccolo, concertina, clarinet, and bassoon), as well as two bass registers for the left. The library lets the player select a single timbre or to combine multiple timbres using any of the available 15 registers, just like a real accordion does. The dynamics of the instrument changes in accordance to the timbre selection which allows for a very natural-sounding performance. It's of course possible to control the attack envelope of the sound as well as the mechanical noise levels coming from keys and a bellow.

"Vintage Accordion" is based on an old Titano Accordion made in Castelfidardo (Italy) by Victoria in the 60s years. This instrument is one of the most acclaimed vintage accordions on the market. Its sound, with the "tube chamber" solution, allows the musicians to explore all the expressive possibilities that an accordion can produce!

I live near Castelfidardo. In this nice place I had the possibility to meet amazing people who dedicated their life to the sound of this instrument. Some of theese, like Vitaliano Morbidoni (photo) and now Roberto Morbidoni knows all the secrets of the accordion sound and construction.

I recorded my vintage accordion with a Neumann TLM103 large diaphragm microphone thru an amazing Apogee Symphony I/O converter with its own Mic Preamp card for the best audio resolution and musical details. All the 1289 samples are in 96kHz/24bit resolution!

The 7 registers of the real accordion are implemented: Basson (16"), Bandoneon (16"+8"), Organ (16"+4"), Master (16"+8"+4"), Oboe (8"+4") and Piccolo (4"). I provide to set various presets, from left and right hand together to single register presets to manage every MIDI configuration.

Sib. 7.0: bandoneon and accordian sounds in Sibelius Posted by Frans Vermeerssen - 24 Dec 12:03PM Hide picture I am working on arrangements for a tango-orchestra, including bandoneons and accordions. The sound assigned to both instrument are from the reed-organ. Does anybody know if there is a better working sound for these instruments, and where can i find that?Second problem is that in some passages the accordion does not play back all the notes, skiping more than half of them. "To realized it I made a deep study about its special sound. I love that sound and all its expressive variations! To capture its soul I worked with amazing technical tools (from microphones to sound card, from editing software to developement system)! I recorded, edited and looped almost 1300 waveforms for a total of 2GB of memory storage. All samples are perfectly looped. I recorded all the registers of my accordion, all the keys for 4 velocity layers and 2 round robin. I adopted a filter to simulate the harmonic variation of sounds during its dynamic range. I separately recorded the key-on and key-off noises for a more realistic sound! 2ff7e9595c
